The Doors

The Doors' iconic album, Morrison Hotel, was released exactly 50 years ago, today, on February 9th, 1970.

On the eve of the album's half-centennial anniversary, rock stars collided at West Hollywood's Sunset Marquis Hotel where music lovers and legends fêted the 50th anniversary of Morrison Hotel.

As the winter darkness quickly replaced the twilight on the Bella Vista Ranch and Polo Club in Summerland, local DJ’s Suzanne X, Matty Matt, Gavin Roy and Zeke took over the music at the Kick Ash After Bash. Much of the crowd, especially those with children departed from the day-long event. But they were quickly replaced by a whole new crowd of the after-show ticket holders. Concert-goers were greeted with a continued supply of complimentary food and beverages that kept everyone in a festive mood in the cold evening air.

The Doors guitar legend Robby Krieger will be playing select US dates beginning in April! A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (with The Doors), Krieger wrote or co-wrote many of the Doors' songs, including the hits “Light My Fire”, “Love Me Two Times”, “Touch Me”, and “Love Her Madly”. After the Doors disbanded, Krieger continued his performing and recording career with other musicians including former Doors band mates John Densmore and Ray Manzarek. Robby is listed by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest guitarists of all time!

He is undoubtedly one of the boldest rock guitarists of all-time, a pioneering songwriter who fused classic blues with California psychedelia to create some of rock music’s greatest songs including “Love Me Two Times,” “Touch Me,” “Love Her Madly” and more. And, of course, he was a founding member of one of the most critically and commercially adored bands in history, The Doors.

His early days in the corporate music world representing such legendary acts as The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and The Chambers Brothers gained him recognition and success in the music business.

Dickey Bettes unfortunately has to withdraw due to family emergency. Legendary guitarist Robby Krieger of the Doors has been added to the line-up of the 2015 Sunshine Music and Blues Festival.  Krieger will be the replacement for Dickey Betts who unfortunately will not be able to perform this year as he is staying by the bedside of a close family member with a serious illness.

Ray Manzarek and Roy Rogers have received no shortage of kudos since they first recorded together five years ago. Ray Manzarek’s signature keyboard sound was a cornerstone of The Doors - one of the most iconic rock bands of the 60’s. An inductee into the R&R Hall of Fame - he certainly needs no introduction. In the pantheon of music, The Doors’ music continues to be one of the most revered rock song catalogs of any band.

SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FESTIVAL (SSMF) organizers have announced the full lineup for the annual three-day event kicking off Thursday, August 16 and culminating on Saturday, August 18 with an all-day street festival. THE DOORS will be the 2012 festival honorees.

Their love didn’t fade away. Our love didn’t fade away. We’re gonna love Furthur (and Wanee!) night and day.
