Gogol Bordello

Today, international punk band Gogol Bordello announced a European tour, set to kick off in the UK on May 25. Led by Ukrainian frontman Eugene Hütz, this comes on the heels of four sold out New Year’s Eve shows in the US, a tradition they’ve celebrated for 15 years. The band recently performed for Rolling Stone and WNYC’s Soundcheck, with Eugene continuing to be a “flagbearer of the cultural resistance…as the one-year mark of the war in Ukraine approaches” - listen to his interview on CBC Radio's The Sunday Magazine here.

International punk band Gogol Bordello is celebrating 15 years of their infamous New Year’s Eve shows this year at Brooklyn Bowl New York & Philadelphia from December 28-31. Led by Ukrainian frontman Eugene Hütz, the band just announced lineups for the Brooklyn shows, toasting the unbreakable spirit of NYC: hardcore legends Murphy’s Law are joined by Incendiary Device and fresh faces Balaklava Blues (whose debut single “Gimme” already reached 1M+ YouTube views), Crazy & The Brains and Puzzled Panther.

Coming on the heels of the release of “Zelensky: The Man With The Iron Balls,” a track written by Les Claypool of Primus and Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello, and featuring Stewart Copeland, Sean Lennon, Billy Strings, and Sergey Ryabtsev, Fandiem has partnered with Claypool and Hütz on a fundraising sweepstakes campaign to benefit Nova Ukraine.

On the night of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Les Claypool of Primus and Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello began collaborating on a joint release to rally support for the Ukrainian people. Released today via Rolling Stone and irreverently titled “Zelensky: The Man With the Iron Balls,” the track also features Stewart Copeland, Sean Lennon, Billy Strings, and Sergey Ryabtsev.

Riot Fest exploded with a bang, and the fast action, hard hitting, rock festival tore it up in the Mile High City. On the grounds of Sports Authority Stadium at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos, the festival kicked off its first night with its best lineup of the weekend. Taking public transportation was the way to go because there were a lot of people to add to the regular Friday traffic in the city.

There’s one thing you can count on from a Gogol Bordello show; you’re going to leave it dripping, either from your sweat, everybody else’s sweat, or with some red wine that frontman Eugene Hutz uses to liberally douse the crowd. You’re also going to leave immensely satisfied at having seen one of the best live acts going, period.

Saturday at Wakarusa started late due to an overnight near-monsoon (there were actual tornado warnings for the area). But after the rain stopped, the sun came out and my friends and I cooked a delicious breakfast of eggs, beans, chicken sausage, fresh veggies and salsa. It was amazing, and the first real meal I’d eaten yet. It’s so difficult to eat real food out there, especially considering all the energy being burned from walking everywhere.

Wakarusa. It’s coming and it’s going to be better than last year. IT’S THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY for god’s sake!
