Jorma Kaukonen

Electric Hot Tuna's music is unique, an expression of Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady's individual personalities who forge their improvisational sounds with a feeling of significance into a dynamic event. Their electric sound is complete with the addition of drummer Justin Guip,* whose "emphatic yet fluid timekeeping is a true complement." Starting August 25, Steve Kimock, the blazing psychedelic guitarist versatile enough to touch almost all aspects of American music, will join Hot Tuna on tour.

Ask you mothers and wives along to roam the forest, walk the labyrinth, explore the Psylodelic Museum or simply relax in the warm spring air in Southeast Ohio. It’s a beautiful time of year at the Fur Peace Ranch! Or…. send them to a spa and come to the Fur Peace Ranch May 11-14. It’s a musical adventure that includes the whole family or not!

Always in the groove from their years of experience and mutual inspiration. Hot Tuna will be on tour and teaching at the Fur Peace Ranch this Winter and Spring.

Started as a side project during Jefferson Airplane days, the constant, the very definition of Hot Tuna, has always been Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady. From the ‘Sixties Evolution to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the two boyhood pals have never wavered in one of the most enduring friendships in Rock history.

Hot Tuna, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, perform with a well-honed and solid power – always in the groove from their years of experience and mutual inspiration.  From their days playing together as teenagers in the Washington, DC area, through years of inventive Psychedelic rock in San Francisco (1996 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, 2016 GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients), to their acoustic and electric blues sound, no one has more consistently led American music for the last 50 years than Jorma Ka

For more than four decades, Hot Tuna, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, have played, toured, and recorded some of the best and most memorable acoustic and electric music ever.

The Fur Peace Ranch offers music and art set in the natural beauty of Meigs County. Conceived in 1989 by Jorma & Vanessa Kaukonen, nestled in the rolling foothills of Southeast Ohio, the Fur Peace Ranch offers weekend music workshops with renowned musicians, Saturday night concerts, Arts and Crafts festivals, the Psylodelic Gallery and the Pho Peace Restaurant.

I had the privilege of attending my favorite festival of the year for the fifth year in a row, and I am here to tell you about the best place on Earth. I would travel across several oceans to get to this festival. It is one that if you haven’t experienced, it should be placed on your bucket list. I’d like to start this tale of Dark Star Jubilee, held at Legend Valley, in Thornville Ohio, each Memorial Day weekend, with some words from the band, written in each schedule passed out:
