Mike Gordon

The musicians that make up Phish are relentless students and teachers of musical prowess, theory, and expression. It seems as though they never rest and constantly create. After a powerful three nights at Dick’s Sporting Good Park in Colorado a month and a half ago, bassist Mike Gordon was back with his solo band to close his tour in the mountains at the elegant Boulder Theater.

There may be no band that has been more critically analyzed song by song and show by show than Phish. Phish phans are some of the most attuned and astute musical analysts in the music scene. Since my first show in December of 1996 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia to my 197th show at the closing of this summer tour at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, I have seen and heard such vastly differing opinions about nearly every show.

To celebrate the release of OGOGO, Mike Gordon and his band will be doing a two special in-store mini-electric performance & autograph signings on tour. The first is this week at The Sound Garden in Syracuse, NY and the next will be on the last day of tour at Twist & Shout Records in Denver. Details about both are here.

Trey Anastasio Band closed out Grace Potter’s Grand Point North festival in Burlington, Vermont last night. In years past, Potter has headlined both Saturday and Sunday night at the Festival. This year, Potter headlined Saturday night while turning over that spot to Trey Anastasio Band (TAB) on Sunday. (Grace performed a full set immediately before Trey.) This was the first show for TAB in Burlington since in October, 2011. Potter has performed on several bills with Anastasio over the years.

Mike Gordon's fifth solo studio album, OGOGO, is now available for pre-order from Phish Dry Goods and Mike's Store (on purple vinyl and CD). The first singles from the record, "Steps" and "Victim" are streaming now via Spotify and YouTube.

We’re excited to announce Mike’s new studio album, OGOGO, arriving September 15 via Megaplum/ATO Records. You can listen to “Steps,” a track from the record, now. It’s also streaming via Spotify and Apple Music.

Phish bassist Mike Gordon returns to the road with his band this fall. Unlike previous projects, the goal was to put together a band that would be in it for the long haul. Guitarist and longtime collaborator Scott Murawski and Mike searched the nooks and crannies of this land for players to complete the outfit. Scott can rip guitar to no end, and he belts out with the kind of voice that at once sounds like your best friend and like the deep backwoods soul and grit of a true American hobo hero, too cool to talk in normal small-talk.

Another Summer Camp Music Festival has come and gone, and while every weekend spent at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL beholds something different, this weekend had an extra-special feeling to it that was hard to put your finger on. Maybe it was the seemingly yearly re-occurring thunder storm that rolled through the festival grounds mid-afternoon Friday, soaking the grounds and bringing out the inner-child in the crowd as fans stomped through the puddles with their rain boots.

Mike's Fall tour kicks off in St. Louis next Friday before continuing east. Stops include Chicago, Burlington, Albany, Philly, DC and Mike's return to Nashville for the first time since 2011. The tour ends with the band's first multi-night run, with a special sold-out intimate three-nighter at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA. Tickets are on sale now for the rest of the tour.

In today’s age of social media and the technological prison we live in it is amazing that a band like Phish can still keep a secret, especially from their rabid fan base.  When the band announced in early September that they were finally releasing their long-awaited studio follow-up to 2014’s Fuego, message boards and dedicated fan sites immediately began churning the rumor mill regarding which songs would appear on Big Boat.  The band had, after all, written and performed many new songs over the last few tours so it wou
