The sleepy little town of Carpinteria, California was treated to an exceptional concert by legendary singer-songwriter and Banjo aficionado John McEuen. One of the founding members of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, McEuen brought his new group, the String Wizards to the historic Alcazar Theatre on a cold winter night, February, 13th.

Disco Biscuit bassist, activist, and Philadelphia resident Marc Brownstein brought his new supergroup Star Kitchen to Ardmore Music Hall for the second time last night and did not disappoint. The Star Kitchen lineup includes guitarist Danny Mayer (Eric Krasno Band), keyboardist Rob Marsher (Addison Groove Project, Matisyahu) and drummer Marlon Lewis (Lauryn Hill, John Legend), along with different guests at every show. Brownstein noted that all members of the current lineup live in Philadelphia.

An appreciative audience packed the tiny Ojai Underground Exchange for an extraordinary concert Sunday, March 3rd. The small venue is a combination dance studio and performance hall that holds less than 100 people, and lies tucked away just off the main highway 150 that passes through the beautiful mountain enclave of Ojai, California. The show was another feather in the cap for local concert promoters Steve and Polly Hoganson from Ones To Watch Productions.

Bob Weir brought his newest project, The Wolf Brothers, to The Taft Theatre in Cincinnati on Wednesday night for an intimate and impressive performance that satisfied the theater full of his loyal fans. With a catalog as impressive and extensive as Weir’s, the band was able to curate a fantastic show full of songs spanning all of Weir’s career with The Grateful Dead as well as his side projects, solo work, and even some covers thrown in for good measure.

Toronto, Canada’s jam funk hybrid After Funk have been touring all over the US in support of their newest album, Santa Barbara, bringing a refreshing live show to both west and east coast, and musical spots in between. Downtown New York City saw the return of an amazing yearly musical event this past weekend, The Tree of Life Benefit. Created by music lover and activist Robert S. Rosman and his family, Tree of Life gathers big names of the metro jam scene and beyond to deliver memorable nights of collaborative music in an intimate setting. It all raises funds for Ferncliff Manor, a school specializing in the care and treatment of individuals with disabilities.
