Sublime

As the sun rose over Monterey, the final day of the festival we had all waited the last three years for felt bittersweet. The anticipation was more than lived up to as the artists we have all come to know and love played with the crowd of 10,000 singing every lyric to every song behind them. Day four was packed with reggae legends and royalty both new and old as the last day of the longest Cali Roots to date sent Monterey home in style.

As the summer season began to wane in southern California, veteran Reggae punk rockers Sublime brought a day-long music festival to Ventura Fairgrounds, courtesy of CBF productions. The same company that kept live music alive during the pandemic by producing two seasons of the Concerts In Your Car series have now transitioned back to their original mission of creating music and food festivals.

Sublime premiered the official music video for fan favorite “Pawn Shop” to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of band’s multi-platinum, self-titled album Sublime. Created by artist Darin Vartanian, known as Pix3lface, the new video is animated in the style of psychedelic-surfer-punk-graffiti inspired by late-night edgy animations, west coast surfer tattoo art and archival flyers, with Sublime’s iconography morphing throughout.
