WinterWonderGrass

The WinterWonderGrass Grass After Dark legacy has manifested through our attendees’ experiences of their favorite bands, bearing witness to iconic, true-to-WonderGrass moments in the most intimate of settings. Heading into the final month before the seventh annual Colorado festival, we’re pleased to announce this year’s Steamboat Grass After Dark, late night show series.

The WinterWonderGrass Festival had its first ever foray to the east in mid-December. It was a warm welcome to the beautiful Vermont Green Mountains at the Stratton Ski Resort. There’s a saying in New England, and it especially applies to Vermont this time of year. If you don’t like the weather, wait an hour. This adage proved true over all three days of the WinterWonderGrass Vermont festival. Opening day Friday started out mild, mid-40s a bit grey. Everything looked perfect for a fine festival kick-off.

Today, Portland, OR's Fruition announce an additional run of dates in early 2019. In addition to stops in Nashville, St. Louis, Kansas City, Atlanta, Asheville the band has announced new stops in Birmingham, New Orleans, Houston, Austin, Dallas Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and more. See full list of dates below. Support for all dates is also now announced. The band will be joined by Daniel Rodriguez of Elephant Revival, Brad Parsons & Starbird, and Dead Winter Carpenters at various dates.

Highlighted by spirited headlining performances by The Devil Makes Three (Saturday), The Infamous Stringdusters (Friday), and Railroad Earth (Sunday), there was a profound additional component to this year’s WinterWonderGrass Tahoe. The weather. Before turning all sunny on Sunday, Friday and Saturday’s proceedings included periodic showers of snow, graupel (look it up), and a little rain.

Colorado, how do we show our boundless love for you? You brought us sold out shows in Denver, Boulder, Steamboat, and Crested Butte. We even got the chance to share the stage with Sam Bush at his sold-out show in Keystone. Special shoutouts also go out to Greensky Bluegrass and The Infamous Stringdusters for their support.

Folk-rooted Oregon rockers Fruition have never been ones to shy away from change. What started as an Americana, singer/songwriter project has evolved into a psychedelic grassroots extravaganza, twisting live elements of rock n’ roll and delta-blues into their already well-crafted core sound. The band’s fifth studio album, Watching It All Fall Apart, is an expression of that.

2018’s rendition of WinterWonderGrass lived up to its designation in every sense of the word this past weekend, as bluegrass fans from around the country gathered in majestic Steamboat Springs, Colorado to dance, drink and smiled the night away beneath the magnificent Park Range. The weekend more than lived up to expectation and hype, with incredible bluebird days and epic snow-covered nights, providing world-class skiing throughout the weekend and top-notch bluegrass to cap the night activities.

Bluegrass, brews and the backdrop of the majestic Rocky Mountains, does it get any better my friends? The sixth annual WinterWonderGrass Music Festival is just around the corner, and this year’s rendition is shaping up to be the most successful year to date.
