Yonder Mountain String Band

Nestled in the Catskill Mountains of New York is the third annual Catskill Chill, with music all day and night from Sept. 7 through 9. This year’s lineup spans across many genres of music including bands like Yonder Mountain String Band, JGB Band with Melvin Seals, Conspirator and EOTO.

In case there was any confusion regarding Yonder Mountain String Band’s capacity for throwing down an amazing show that everybody can enjoy, the band brought out three little girls on stage during a cover of Danny Barnes’ “Funtime” who danced and whipped their hair with more fervor than Willow Smith herself.

Adam Aijala, Ben Kaufmann & Dave Johnston of Yonder Mountain String Band took some time from their busy schedule to answer a few questions about the band's upcoming Kinfolk Celebration in Lyons, Colorado. This will be the first time in 10 years the band is playing the Planet Bluegrass grounds. It's obvious they're excited for the opportunity to put on a festival for their hometown fans.

The wait is over! The third annual Catskill Chill Music Festival at Camp Camp Minglewood in Hancock, New York has unveiled the 2012 music schedule.

Coming up at Yonder Mountain String Band's Kinfolk Celebration in Lyons, CO on August 24-25, 2012, a silent auction will take place to benefit the Colorado Fire Relief Fund. Fans will have an opportunity to place a bid and win exciting prices such as archived posters and signed merchandise, tickets to upcoming events, and instruments and gear from the band's vault. Separate auctions will take place on both August 24 and 25, 2012.

The NYC-based rock/fusion quartet TAUK announces today they will join the lineup of Yonder Mountain String Band's Harvest Music Festival to be held October 11-13th in Ozark, Arkansas. TAUK will play Saturday, October 13th at 8pm. The band has spent the past summer turning heads with their electrifying instrumental performances at Bonnaroo, Hangout Music Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival and The Allman Brother's Peach Fest.

It’s been another great summer for live music in Colorado. From the majestic Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison to the main stage at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the state has again proven itself to be a major destination for all kinds of acts. As the season winds down and the weather (hopefully) starts to get cooler, the local boys of Yonder Mountain String Band still have one trick up their respective sleeve.

As Tim O’Brien and Friends kicked off the final set of RockyGrass 2012, I planted my feet a couple of yards behind the elevated stage. The canopy of treetops overhead, awash in color from the stage lights, absorbed a light drizzle. To my right, the deity of all double bassists, Edgar Meyer, calmly warmed up next to the main stage staircase.

On Friday night at All Good Festival in Ohio, Yonder Mountain String Band took the stage for a raging set of blue grass. Several hours before they hit the stage, guitarist Adam Aijala and mandolin player Jeff Austin sat down with Bobby Martin of Grateful Web in the backstage artist area.

Catskill Chill Music Festival is getting the party started early with Catskill Chill Wednesday Jams, live at Sullivan Hall in New York City every Wednesday in August (there are 5!). As official house band of the celebration, FiKus will play each week and the lineups will be filled in with Chill Family artists who are slated to play this year's Catskill Chill Music Festival at Camp Minglewood in Hancock, NY.
