JEFF LARSON—the veteran singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay area now living in Southern California—has today (February 8) unveiled the video for “Reason To Believe.” It’s the newly released lead single from IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, his six-song tribute EP to the late iconic singer and songwriter Tim Hardin. The EP, featuring all Hardin originals, was produced by Gerry Beckley of America and is due out March 17 as the first release on new Nashville-based label Melody Place.

The video features an animation of Lucas Cranach the Elder’s 1531 painting “Adam and Eve in Paradise (The Fall).” In Sciubba’s reimagining Adam and Eve dance to the beat, embrace, separate, embrace again and eventually depart Eden.

Jason Stutts, who goes by Rust Dust on record, belongs to the latter group, allowing songs to take shape in mere minutes or over the course of years, serving them the best he can with whatever sounds, words, energy, and emotions manifest. “I don’t typically sit down to write a song. Sometimes I’m lucky enough to recognize them when they appear,” he says.
Congratulations to Terri Lyne Carrington, who won the GRAMMY Award for Best Instrumental Jazz Album today for her groundbreaking project, new STANDARDS Vol. 1. The other project she released, Live At The Detroit Jazz Festival by Wayne Shorter, Terri Lyne Carrington, Leo Genovese and esperanza spalding, earned a win in the Best Improvised Jazz Solo category for Wayne Shorter & Leo Genovese’s recording of “Endangered Species.”
