The Last Prisoner Project (LPP) will host its inaugural Journey to Justice Gala to mark the organization’s 5-Year Anniversary on Tuesday, September 24 at Sony Hall in New York City. The milestone event will celebrate the LPP’s progress toward justice made for those impacted by cannabis convictions and honor the resilience and determination of the individuals, families, and communities involved in this transformative movement for freedom.

Ella Jenkins was born on August 6th, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri, and will have her 100th birthday later this year. To honor her centennial, Smithsonian Folkways is planning reissues, tributes, and archival releases to celebrate her legacy as the “First lady of children’s music.” One of the most iconic folk musicians of the 20th century, in general, Ella pioneered the call-and-response, “first me and now you” style of singing that’s become a staple of children’s music and early childhood education overall.

The Nashville-based Country roots singer-songwriter Caleb Lee Hutchinson releases the official music video for “Silverado,” the lead single off his latest album, Southern Galactic. The video premiered with CMT and on Paramount’s Times Square Billboard in NYC earlier today.  Ahead of the video’s release, Hutchinson broke the news of with a main stage announcement this past weekend at Country Jam in front of 40 thousand fans.

ASK4 Entertainment has announced the core music lineup for the 15th year of ShipRocked, the premier rock music festival cruise. ShipRocked 2025 will feature Parkway Drive, Hollywood Undead, Nothing More and The Struts, as well as 10 Years, Atreyu, Buckcherry, The Ghost Inside, P.O.D. and many more during the January 19-25, 2025 cruise departing from Miami, Florida on Carnival Magic, with stops at St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands (a new destination for ShipRockers) and Half Moon Cay in The Bahamas.

On August 16th, 2024, GRAMMY-nominated East Tennessee bluegrass group The Po’ Ramblin Boys will release their next album, Wanderers Like Me on Smithsonian Folkways. A look back at the band’s ten years since they formed as a house band in Tennessee, and the struggles and triumphs that have come since, the album is their first-ever made with an outside producer, Woody Platt, and features more original work than any of their albums to date.
