The Phantom Blues Band has backed Taj Mahal for about forever, and as first-call L.A. session cats, played behind lots of other greats, from Bonnie Raitt and Etta James to Joe Cocker and Bob Marley.  After years behind Taj, they began to release their own albums, and that’s told below.

Bonnie Raitt’s 21st album ‘Just Like That…’, is out now via Redwing Records on all formats, including an Indie exclusive teal LP and immersive audio formats Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio. The 10-track album’s title comes from a line in one of Raitt’s new original songs (“Just like that, your life can change”). She is also teaming up again with distributor ADA globally and new partner Sub Pop for the physical album release in the United States.

Bonnie Raitt will return to the live stage with Just Like That… a national tour in 2022 launching in April and running through November which includes music from her forthcoming, long-awaited studio album, ‘Just Like That...’ Raitt will release her first single off the upcoming album as well as launch a pre-order campaign February 25th. The first and second rounds of shows in April with special guest NRBQ and May/June with special guest Lucinda Williams are on sale now!

Passim’s School of Music is back with more than two dozen classes including a pair of classes examining the music of Bob Dylan & The Band and Bonnie Raitt. This semester half of the classes will be held online, while the rest remain in person. All classes will begin remotely for the first two weeks, and then in person classes will return to the Passim School of Music in Harvard Square. The weekly courses start next week. The Recording Academy® announced today that Bonnie Raitt will join the honorees receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony and 64th Annual GRAMMY® Nominees Reception event, to be held at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022. The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates performers who have made outstanding contributions of artistic significance to the field of recording.
