Cigarettes After Sex
The final day of Austin City Limits was a welcome change of pace after ending the previous night with some of the most notorious rockers of the past few decades. Day three featured a large bulk of indie artists focusing on technique and lyrics rather than volume and angst as the crowd gathered one last time to walk the grounds at Zilker Park.
On Friday, August 25th, the THING Festival returned to Port Townsend, WA, for its third season. The three-day event, curated by Adam Zacks of the Seattle Theatre Group, showcased an eclectic lineup on two main stages and three associated venues. One festival-goer described the experience as "a mostly chill-out menagerie." Of the two stages, the Jeremiah Green stage memorialized the Modest Mouse drummer who tragically succumbed to cancer in early 2023.
The final day of Outside Lands 2023 ended the weekend on a calm note. While the first two days featured many artists with a more upbeat and louder style, the third day allowed fans to sit back and unwind with a down-to-earth feel.
Cigarettes After Sex front man Greg Gonzalez had a clear vision for his band’s debut album, a gorgeously cinematic work released via Partisan Records on June 9th, 2017. After the phenomenal online break-out success of 2015’s reverberant beauty ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby’ from the early Cigarettes EP (‘I.’) from 2012, the Brooklyn transplant (originally from El Paso) wanted to project his worldview on to a bigger screen, a broader canvas. Cigarettes After Sex have announced their self-titled debut album will be out June 9th on Partisan Records. To compliment the album announcement the band has also released a new track entitled "Apocalypse", premiered worldwide yesterday by BBC Radio 1.
