The 39th annual Farm Aid concert took place on Saturday at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY, with a star-studded lineup coming together to support the American farmer.

Nelson Ledges Quarry Park (NLQP) was an operational rock quarry for nearly 20 years until the late 1950s when mining operations accidentally tapped into an underground freshwater spring. Much like a dinghy with a hole, NLQP quickly filled with water, making it impossible for the miners to continue their work. Operations were shuttered, and local phreaks of all sorts became the only visitors to the 250-acre hidden lake near Garrettsville, Ohio.

Today, February 1st, 2024, marks the 85th birthday of Del McCoury, a towering figure in the bluegrass world whose contributions have not only shaped the genre but have also bridged generations of musicians and fans alike. While Scruggs might not have single-handedly birthed bluegrass, he undeniably propelled it to prominence with his groundbreaking three-finger playing style, relentless touring, and fusion of bluegrass with rock and pop.
