It was in Bozeman, Montana that our Kitchen Dwellers first discovered a constant source of musical inspiration near the kitchen, with bluegrass music, and each other. From those free form kitchen picking sessions, their very own chief recipe of a bluegrass style was created. Over the course of their 4 year career the Dwellers have been honored to open for some of their very own musical heroes: Railroad Earth, Greensky Bluegrass, Head for the Hills, Horseshoes and Handgrenades, just to name a few.

Hot Buttered Rum lives for a good time, and a mindful recklessness settles in whenever these five guys step on stage. From Anchorage to Miami, the group’s onstage chemistry fuels the lovefest that is a live Butter show. Rooted in the trajectory of west coast bluegrass, Hot Buttered Rum has been described as California’s own acoustic music.

Grateful Web recently had an enlightening chat with Don Strasburg. He’s a veteran promoter, talent-buyer and co-owner of Boulder’s Z2 Entertainment. Strasburg along with a group of other young entrepreneurs opened The Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado in 1992. Ambitiously booking New Orleans funk-founders The Meters as their first gig, the rest is history and The Fox is one of America’s top intimate venue spaces.

MarchFourth is a genre-breaking force of entertainment. This explosion of brassy funk, rock, and jazz emanates from fifteen or so performers: musicians, acrobats, stilters and more, touring the country year-round, stealing the festival wherever they appear, taking audiences on a joy-inducing, booty-shaking, soul-stirring journey that defies categorization. Word on the street: You have to see it to believe it!

A founding member of The Allman Brothers Band (ABB), drummer Butch Trucks was known as the “freight train” behind the band as they wrote music history for 45 years. With ABB co-drummer and best friend Jaimoe, together they developed a rhythmic drive that formed a new foundation in music that is still unmatched today. My Blue Sky and their All Star special guests (TBA) will honor Butch in a musical celebration that is not to be missed.

In 2010, the five Wisconsinites that make up Horseshoes & Hand Grenades found themselves in a living room in the college town of Stevens Point, WI, holding acoustic instruments and enjoying a hodgepodge of fermented beverages. Music and revelry ensued that evening and, while many of the party guests eventually bid their goodbye well into the morning hours, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades wasn't ready to let the get-together fade.
