Melvin Seals
Melvin Seals has been a powerful presence in the music industry for over 30 years with a long-established reputation as a performer, recording artist and producer. Melvin is most revered for his powerful, high-spirited, Hammond B-3 organ, and keyboards in the Jerry Garcia Band. Melvin spun his B-3 magic with the Jerry Garcia Band for 18 years and in doing so helped pioneer and define what has now become "Jam Band Music". From blues to funk to rock to jazz, Melvin Seals serves up a tasty mix with a little R&B and gospel thrown in to spice things up.
The Ogden Theatre is a 1600 capacity venue in the Capitol Hill district of Denver and although its surroundings leave much to be desired, the place still brings out the magic for those who enter its historic doors. Originally opened in 1917, it got it start as did many theaters of that era as a movie house and a locale for vaudeville performances. Cinema was its main draw for decades until its almost unfortunate end in the early 90’s, when it was slotted to be demolished.
To say we are very excited to be returning to The Fillmore December 3 in San Francisco with our annual Rex Foundation Benefit would be an understatement. After a two-year hiatus we can’t wait to gather with our beloved Rex community and dance to our hearts’ content!
Melvin Seals and JGB are no strangers to the New York City jam scene, and bring out fans time and time again. They returned once again to the lively Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY last weekend for a magical set of classic Jerry Garcia Band songs and covers. Local New Jersey band One Eyed Jack provided their support.
Music and merriment drifted from person to person on August 5 to 7, all wrapped in the loving embrace of the fabled tree-and-meadow acreage of Black Oak Ranch, aka the Hog Farm, for the second Days Between festival in far Northern California.
We had so much fun on the Mare Island Waterfront this May with Melvin Seals and JGB with special guest Stu Allen, we couldn’t resist asking them all to come back for another show along the Napa River in Vallejo over Labor Day Weekend. Presale Tix are now available for this very special Labor of Love Live Music Event happening Saturday 9/3. DO NOT MISS this very special family friendly outdoor concert event.
Jerry Garcia’s 80th birthday celebration was celebrated a little bit early last night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Some birthdays are just too big, so when the stars align you just do it. Jerry was born on August 1st, 1942, and sadly departed planet earth on August 9th, 1995. He will always live in our hearts, minds and souls. Jerry was a beacon of light and inspiration moving brightly through our lives.
