From Trout Steak Revival’s beginning as an informal jamming unit during treks through the Front Range, this Denver-based roots quintet has evolved into one of Colorado’s most tightly-knit bluegrass bands. Their brand of heartfelt songwriting blends dynamic musicianship with intricately woven harmonies, all tied together with the unmistakable sound of their years of friendship.

Their brand of heartfelt songwriting blends dynamic musicianship with intricately woven harmonies, all tied together with the unmistakable sound of their years of friendship.

Last week Denver based bluegrass band Trout Steak Revival played a sold-out show at The Bluebird Theater to showcase their new album Brighter Every Day. Banjo player Chris Pandolfi from The Infamous Stringdusters produced the album and sat in with the band for their album release.

Historically, mountain ranges have been formidable barriers for civilization. But for the first settlers who passed through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, those features gave way to a unique sense of independence and became insulators from the rest of civilization, with collaboration, rather than competition, as the prime virtue. Flash forward to 2015, and you can hear this dynamic at play on BRIGHTER EVERY DAY, the newest album from Denver indie-mountaingrass quintet TROUT STEAK REVIVAL.

Trout Steak Revival has much to celebrate as they enter 2014.  This past year, their CD “Flight” was the 15th most played CD on Nat'l Folk DJ list for January 2013 (Based on 147 DJ's reporting + 13046 airplays) including airplay on nationally syndicated shows FolkScene and Sirius XM The Village.

Catch Trout Steak Revival live and you can’t help but notice the band’s gift to thrive in the moment. In 2009 the band formed, sparked by jam sessions with close friends during backpacking trips and backyard parties. The sounds of fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, bass, dobro, and accordion blend in TSR’s bluegrass-inspired mountain music. While each member of the band composes original tunes, harmonic contributions are added by the entire band, following the bluegrass tradition and creating a unique sound.
