Blue Rose Foundation co-founder, Joe Poletto, produced the first Blue Rose Ball as a way of honoring the spirit and life of his longtime friend Joe Capone by establishing a scholarship fund in Capone’s name at Sonoma’s Old Adobe School. The fund raised over $25,000 in its first year, enough to fund five half-day, year-round preschool scholarships.
This year's Blue Rose Ball will feature Jackie Greene, an emerged singer-songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, prompting the New York Times to hail him "the Prince of Americana." The San Francisco Chronicle has said he is "a natural and intuitive connection with… just about any musical instrument." Jackie has been chasing a sense of authentic human connection through art since his teenage years in Central California, when he began self-recording and releasing his own music. NPR's World Café says his "sound seems at once achingly intimate, surprisingly energetic and unburdened by adherence to genre.” His critically acclaimed independent debut opened the door for career establishing tours with the likes of BB King, Mark Knopfler, Susan Tedeschi, and Taj Mahal, in addition to gracing festival stages from Bonnaroo to Outside Lands. Between studio albums and his own tours, Jackie has made time for gigs playing with Phil Lesh & Friends, The Black Crowes, Levon Helm, and Trigger Hippy.
Join Blue Rose Foundation and Jackie Greene for a night of music and entertainment on June 10 at Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, CA.
