This special edition sees David Grisman reuniting with Red Allen, the man who gave him his first hardcore bluegrass job in his band, The Kentuckians. The reunion is complemented by the extraordinary talents of bluegrass veterans Herb Pedersen, Jim Buchanan, and DGQ bassist Jim Kerwin.
Jerry Garcia recorded several tunes with the band and sings lead on both versions of the Stanley Brothers classic, “The Fields Have Turned Brown” and “Ashes of Love.” These recordings mark Garcia's first bluegrass performances since his time with Old & in the Way. The Deluxe Edition includes the original 16 tracks along with two previously unissued tracks featuring Garcia, bringing new depth and excitement to this classic album. Vassar Clements also graces track 18, playing twin fiddles with his successor in the Jim & Jesse band, Jim Buchanan.
This HD release presents "Bluegrass Reunion" in a sonically superior format, offering listeners the closest sonic equivalents to the analog master tapes. The tracks sound noticeably better than the original CD, enhancing the listening experience for both new and long-time fans.
