Daniela Schächter Quintet Brings Contemporary Jazz to Berk Hall

Internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and vocalist Daniela Schächter and her ensemble will perform an electrifying set at Berk Hall, Boston, blending original compositions with contemporary interpretations of jazz standards. Schächter’s piano mastery often ventures beyond traditional forms, while her vocal stylings range from the soulful lyricism of Shirley Horn to the ethereal tones of wordless vocalese, mimicking the fluidity of a flute. Joining her on stage will be a group of distinguished musicians: Jason Palmer on trumpet, Rick DiMuzio on saxophones, Keala Kaumeheiwa on acoustic bass, and Bertram Lehmann on drums, promising a dynamic evening of jazz exploration.

Daniela Schächter, a pianist, vocalist, and composer hailing from Sicily, Italy, is also a highly respected professor at Berklee College of Music and Brown University. Having performed with legendary figures like Randy Brecker, Christian McBride, and Regina Carter, Schächter’s musical journey has taken her to iconic venues including The Hollywood Bowl and The Kennedy Center. Known for her award-winning talent, Schächter continues to inspire audiences with her captivating performances and innovative arrangements.

Jason Palmer, a globally recognized trumpeter, has made his mark in the jazz world with 16 albums as a leader and performances alongside icons such as Roy Haynes and Wynton Marsalis. His brilliance on the trumpet has earned him accolades worldwide, and his diverse musical collaborations continue to push the boundaries of modern jazz.

On bass, Keala Kaumeheiwa brings a depth of experience from his studies with Ron Carter to his work with jazz luminaries such as Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. His mastery of both jazz and classical music makes him a sought-after bassist on stages around the world.

Renowned saxophonist Rick DiMuzio adds his profound artistry to the group, drawing from his experience performing with greats like David Liebman and Kenny Wheeler. DiMuzio’s rich, textured sound and compositional expertise elevate every performance.

Completing the lineup is Bertram Lehmann, a drummer and percussionist renowned for his innovative, multi-genre versatility. From jazz to global rhythms, Lehmann’s dynamic style has led him to perform with artists like Paquito d’Rivera and Miguel Zenon on prestigious stages across the globe.
