Early Times & The High Rollers new album THE CORNER hits the streets today via VizzTone Records. Early Times is a dynamic guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, and a singer/songwriter whose sharp, engaging lyrics draw comparisons to Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. His guitar playing is deeply rooted in the blues, with an individual, melodic phrasing that also reveals a classic jazz influence. Early is a Blues Rock street poet, his songs living in a gritty urban landscape spanning New York’s East Side street corners, bodegas, and the project park – a world populated by characters like Little Hustler, Uptown Charlie, Tijuana Madonna, Sweet Lou the Butcher, Ruby, Shakey, funky old Mabel, and of course Mary with her Cha Cha hat. Early and his High Rollers create moods so thick you could cut them with a chainsaw, and his incisive guitar playing is always spot on.
The first single, “She’s About to Lose Her Mind” featuring special guest Popa Chubby on guitar, and the second single “Come On, Let’s Ride” were both on exclusive heavy rotation on Sirius/XM’s Bluesville, where Early is also a popular DJ. This weekend Bluesville will feature five tracks from the album in a special album highlight. Pre-release spins have put “The Corner” on radio charts including Living Blues, Roots Music Report, IBBA (British blues chart) and Sirius/XM’s Rack of Blues.
Early Times started out in Sacramento, CA, where he produced acclaimed independent albums, and received 10 nominations in the Sacramento Area Music Awards (Sammies) in many blues and rock categories, winning he Critics’ Choice Award as Sacramento’s Best Guitarist. He started a jazz trio with Johnny Heartsman, and later went on to record two E.C. Scott albums for the Blind Pig label, touring internationally as her lead guitarist. After relocating to New York, Early established his recording studio, and released his record “Hit & Run,” featuring the hit “Dogs of Karma.” The new record, “The Corner” was produced by Jay Messina, best known for his work with Aerosmith, Kiss, Cheap Trick, and Miles Davis.
“He is a great guitarist, vocalist and storyteller…a film-noir type album that will not be forgotten. A bonafide hit.” —MAKING A SCENE
