Dark Shadow Recording is thrilled to announce the release of Laura Orshaw’s new single, “Red Bandana”, a bluegrass reimagining of Merle Haggard’s classic hit. The single features a remarkable collaboration with the acclaimed Canadian bluegrass band, The Slocan Ramblers, marking a milestone moment in both their careers.
“Getting to spend time in the studio and bring this track to life with The Slocan Ramblers was such a treat,” shares Orshaw. “We’ve crossed paths at several festivals through the years, but we had never played music together before this day in the studio. Working through the instrumental harmonies to emulate the twin guitar intro was so exciting. My favorite moment was seeing the look on everyone’s faces when it all finally clicked!”
Produced by Grammy-nominated Stephen Mougin, the track captures the energy and attitude of traditional bluegrass while paying homage to Merle Haggard’s timeless songwriting. Mougin reflects on the collaboration: “I’ve been a fan of The Slocan Ramblers since I first heard them play, and I’ve been trying to put this collaboration together for a couple of years. When they gathered at the studio and started to play, it was even better than I imagined. This track is full of attitude! So much fun!”
