Bouncing back post-lockdown after the success of their debut record and viral single “Ric Flair”, with barnstorming festival seasons and sell-out shows across Glasgow, including the QMU,  Glasgow funk powerhouse Tom McGuire & The Brassholes continue their exciting 2nd phase as Scotland’s foremost funk outfit. The group follows up their 2021 comeback singles 'Super Solid Soul Vehicle' and 'Oh Savanna', with the release of 'D.R.E.A.D' on the  25th of FEBRUARY.

“D.R.E.A.D is a piece born of the confusing and fractured era of lockdown. It is a song about the feeling of being entirely overwhelmed with not only the day-to-day stresses of life, but self-doubt, self-loathing, hopelessness and questions about the meaning and worth of anything at all. All of this descending the very moment your eyes open, first thing in the morning. This is an experience that I found myself confronted by often during lockdown. I have tried to encapsulate that quite brutal yet very human experience in this song.” Tom McGuire

The song is classic heavy funk, following the lead of James Brown and Tower of Power, replete with blasting horns, histrionic backing vocals, rhythmic gibberish chants, ripping synth solos, and tortured screaming, combining to depict that very particular feeling.

A dense journey through the depths of madness, all experienced before breakfast, delivered in a slab of high energy, grooving funk.
