The Recording Academy has announced the 2025 GRAMMY® Award nominees, and Sue Foley has earned a coveted nomination for “Best Traditional Blues Album” for her critically acclaimed solo acoustic album, ONE GUITAR WOMAN, released on Stony Plain Records. Setting aside her renowned “Pinky” Telecaster, Foley crafted a unique, intimate tribute with a single nylon-stringed Flamenco guitar, her powerful voice, and an undeniable passion for honoring the influential women who paved the way for her musical journey.
ONE GUITAR WOMAN features twelve evocative tracks dedicated to female guitar icons including Elizabeth Cotten, Memphis Minnie, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, French classical guitarist Ida Presti, Southern blues pioneers Geeshie Wiley and Elvie Thomas, Tejano sensation Lydia Mendoza, Charo, and country matriarch Maybelle Carter. Foley's reverent yet fresh approach offers listeners a heartfelt homage that showcases the rich legacy of these trailblazing women.
“With ONE GUITAR WOMAN, I’ve finally brought to life a dream I’ve had for years—to celebrate the powerful, trailblazing women of guitar. Seeing it embraced so warmly by my peers in the industry is an overwhelming joy, and I couldn’t be more grateful,” shared Foley.
The album has received high praise:

Currently touring with her band in Texas and Canada through January, Foley’s ONE GUITAR WOMAN acoustic show is more than a tribute—it’s a transformative journey. Foley channels the spirits of her inspirations, capturing the soul of each song and reshaping it with her own rich vocals and skillful guitar work.
As Rock & Blues Muse music writer Hal Horowitz describes, “The often spellbinding One Guitar Woman … is an enlightening look into her remarkable talents, filtered through the lens of a more intimate expression of the blues.”
Originally from Canada, Sue Foley launched her professional career at sixteen and moved to Austin, TX by twenty-one to record with the famed Antone’s blues label.
