All Good Presents and Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra hosted their second annual Dark Star Jubilee Music Festival over the Memorial Day weekend, and from the turnout, it seemed that the challenge made at 2012’s festival by emcee “Toast” was met by the fans of 2012’s Jubilee, where attendees and fans of the band were asked to “Bring a friend or two to next year’s (2013) Jubilee to m

Sunday, as it turns out, held buckets of fun and loads of beer. The weather was perfect, the mud was a little packed down and you could just tell everybody was waiting for this kind of day. It’s what we’d all waited for. Music, sunshine, nice weather and slightly safe walking conditions! Sunday was simply magical. My friends and I woke up early and packed everything into our car so we could get out after Snoop Lion. We ate grilled pork chops and an improvised bean salsa for lunch. Then we gathered up our things for the day and headed to the stages.

Saturday at Wakarusa started late due to an overnight near-monsoon (there were actual tornado warnings for the area). But after the rain stopped, the sun came out and my friends and I cooked a delicious breakfast of eggs, beans, chicken sausage, fresh veggies and salsa. It was amazing, and the first real meal I’d eaten yet. It’s so difficult to eat real food out there, especially considering all the energy being burned from walking everywhere.

The 2013 Pitchfork Music Festival, happening Friday, July 19-Sunday, July 21 at Chicago's Union Park, has officially sold out of three-day passes. In its commitment to presenting one of the most exciting, inviting and affordable weekends of music around, in its eighth year, the festival offered the opportunity to purchase more three-day passes than ever before. Those have now all been spoken for, however single-day passes are still available for $50 each.

Friday at Wakarusa began with sunshine and high fives. It was an awesome day. Despite the fact I put on sunscreen 5 times, I still got a sunburn. But I got to see a fair amount of music and found a lot of friends I had been hoping to see. Overall, great day!

I feel the need to offer a disclaimer at the beginning of this review.  I do not work for anyone at DelFest.  I have nothing to gain regardless of what I write about DelFest, within this review. And it’s also important to note that I’ve been to each and every DelFest, and also happened to review them for Grateful Web, since the event began, 6 years ago. I say all of this now, as I’m about to gush... A lot..

At the first Wakarusa Music Festival they were invited to, Jeff Austin, mandolin player for Yonder Mountain String Band, says the band was so unknown he was frisked by security because they didn’t believe he was a band.

Now playing the tenth Wakarusa Music Festival, the band is in a very different place.

We’re about an hour away from kicking off the music here on the second day of the tenth annual Wakarusa Music Festival at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Ark.After a rough first day of shows getting rained out and mud EVERYWHERE, I have high hopes that things will start to dry out at least by the time we leave Monday. Right now it’s pretty overcast, but I haven’t seen any rain yet.

Walkarusa. Mudarusa. Funarusa. There are lots of alternative names for Wakarusa here on Mulberry Mountain. Although most of them aren’t very clever we use the names anyway. So far, it’s been more Mudarusa than anything. But I’ve only been here a mere day, and I can’t wait to see what this weekend gives us!

The 4th annual NORTH COAST MUSIC FESTIVAL (NCMF) is thrilled to announce more artists to the 2013 lineup!
