Acclaimed singer/songwriter/guitar virtuoso Daniel Donato has released the brand-new track “Hi-Country" off his highly anticipated upcoming sophomore album Reflector, out November 10th via Retrace Music.Led by jaunty pedal steel atop a shuffling rhythm, “Hi-Country” is an uplifting track with jubilant chorus. "There is a fine line between what is real and what is your imagination, but yet, both inform each other,” says Donato. “'Hi-Country,' is a symbol of this strange ever-present duality in life. It is a place that you are en route to physically, yet spiritually, you are already there. Life is but a day's work, and 'you got all day to make it true...' in the Hi-Country." Reflector is Donato’s first collection of all original material. The 15-songs that comprise the album reflect the continuously evolving musical space he has created which he calls cosmic country. While Donato may not have coined the term, he has brought cosmic country into the 21st century with his blend of Southern rock, pop, classic country, honky-tonk, Laurel Canyon folk and Northern California musical exploration. All of this, combined with great songwriting is fully documented on Reflector. Reflector was produced by multi-Grammy Award winning producer/engineer/mixer Vance Powell (White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Chris Stapleton).
In 2022 alone, Donato and his band – Nathan Aronowitz (keyboards/vocals), Will McGee (bass/vocals) and Noah Miller (drums and percussion) – performed over 220 shows. Together, they have brought their sound and their incendiary live performances to new heights, and audiences and artists are taking notice. Already in 2023, Donato performed as a guest on stage with Bobby Weir & The Wolf Brothers and Widespread Panic and recently joined Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann as a member of his band Billy & The Kids for multiple dates. Billy Strings recently joined Donato and company on stage at the Double E Performance Center in Vermont where the two guitarists played brilliantly off of each other in front of a thrilled audience. Reflector is the follow up to Donato’s 2020 independent debut, A Young Man’s Country, an album that served as an introduction to a gifted young artist and extraordinary guitar player. The album was well received by the press with positive coverage that included, Rolling Stone Country, American Songwriter, No Depression, Magnet Magazine, PREMIERGuitar and The Bluegrass Situation. Donato was also the subject of a 2020 feature in Relix Magazine.
