For over 17 years and nearly 2500 shows played, Dark Star Orchestra has embodied the Grateful Dead’s live experience, keeping it alive for nearly two decades. Continuing the live concert experience has been DSO’s strong suit with members of the Grateful Dead sitting in with them including Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Donna Jean Godchaux & others.
Steve Kimock’s ability to articulate tone, melody and emotion into music combined with technical brilliance has earned him the title “Guitar Monk” for his commitment to guitar, and his ability to make it speak with its own original voice. Joining him are some of the most talented musicians to incorporate the Garcia and GD songbook and features keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, drummer Jay Lane, bassist Reed Mathis, and guitarist/vocalist Dan Lebowitz.
Grammy-award winner and six-time Grammy nominee, Peter Rowan is a bluegrass singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades. From his early years playing under the tutelage of bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe, Peter’s stint in Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia and his subsequent breakout as both a solo performer and bandleader, Rowan has built a devoted, international fan base through his continuous stream of original recordings, collaborative projects, and constant touring.
