Los Angeles band, The Blood Moon Howlers, exclusively premiere their latest EP, Hangover Sessions today. The EP offers a stripped-down twist on 3 original songs that will appear on their full-length album, Mad Man’s Ruse, set to release this July.

The four-piece, Psychedelic Blues Rock band, recorded this EP earlier this year as a counterpoint to their normally riff heavy brand of rock. The EP embraces Juju’s jazzy rock vocals, Matt Wayne's guitar licks mixed with Evan Hatfield's sexy sax interludes in a new fresh way.

The EP opens with the track “Drunk ‘N’ Cold”, that showcases their throaty vocals, laid back instrumentation that makes you want to take the song with you to the bedroom. This is followed by “Buckled Under” which is about “someone who's afraid to look at themselves, the choices they've made and continue to make, and their life becomes something they didn't want in the first place and now it's too late to fix it,” states Juju. The EP ends with “See Right Through You”, which continues the conversation that Juju created in the last song, it’s about “observing someone make excuses for their actions and lie about who they are and get away with it.” The band layers note upon note, building each song on a blues structure that provides a mesmerizing repetition while allowing the music to roam freely.

The band’s innovation lies in their love of exploring various takes on their songs. “One thing about our sound as a band,” Wayne and JuJu point out, “is we all come from different musical backgrounds so there are many influences and layers to each song and it keeps it kind of fun and spontaneous in the writing/recording/performing process because we never really know how a song is going to turn out in the end.” They sound what would happen if Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company met up with The Doors and It’s a BeautifulDay.
