Rifles & Rosary Beads, the acclaimed new album from singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier has received unanimous praise from the press following its January 26th release via Thirty Tigers. Co-written with U.S. veterans and their families, the eleven songs on the album have connected deeply with those who have listened. In a celebrated career that spans nearly two decades, Rifles & Rosary Beads is Mary Gauthier’s more important work to date as it has changed lives and continues to do so. Mary Gauthier was recently the subject of an extremely moving feature by CBS This Morning that illustrates the magnitude of the impact. (View HERE)

The songs on Rifles & Rosary Beads were all co-written as part of SongwritingWith:Soldiers, a non-profit program that facilitates retreats bringing together professional songwriters with wounded veterans and active duty military. Participants have shared that the experience of songwriting was life changing for them, and in some cases, life-saving. Throughout this process Mary Gauthier has become extremely passionate about the power of song, and how the process of creating something has the ability to help heal trauma. Gauthier has recently developed a TED Talk on this very subject "Saved By A Song", which she gave in both Nashville and New York. To hear Gauthier speak on reworking trauma, check out her interview via NPR's Weekend Edition HERE

Rifles & Rosary Beads has resonated with the press and has received glowing coverage via reviews and features in The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, The Oxford American, Noisey and many more. Earlier this year Gauthier was featured on Sarah Silverman's Hulu TV Show I Love You, America. (Click HERE to view the episode.)

Rifles & Rosary Beads reached #6 on the Billboard Heatseeker’s Chart and has also charted on Americana radio. Gauthier, who has already played in key markets including New York and Los Angeles, will continue her nationwide tour in support of the new album with highlights including Kerrville Folk Festival, Roots On The River Festival, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest and a PBS taping at Bluegrass Underground at The Caverns.

The finesse and empathy that Gauthier brings to these songs and stories is unprecedented, making Rifles & Rosary Beads a landmark in her career and proving that she continues to be one of the most important and honest voices in our musical landscape.
