The recently announced lineup includes performances by James McMurtry, Birds of Chicago, John Paul White, Leigh Nash, Joan Shelley, Carrie Newcomer and of course Over the Rhine and the Band of Sweethearts. There will also be a VIP farm-to-table dinner and various artists and writers will host workshops throughout the weekend, including exhibits from painter Thomas Metcalf and National Geographic award-winning photographer Rodney Bursiel. Proceeds from the festival will help the duo to continue restoring a 140-year-old barn into a fully-functioning performing arts center where they hope to host intimate concerts and workshops, record future albums, nurture younger artists and simply share good music, good food, good conversation and good stories.
The duo has established a reputation for delivering genuine, heartfelt stories of the human condition that are both intimate and provocative. Their thoughtful lyrics are often inspired by time and place, with each album representing a certain chapter in their lives – what they have experienced, and the resulting emotional landscape. Over The Rhine have recently been touring in support of their new album Love & Revelation, which has received praise from Associated Press, American Songwriter, No Depression, Paste and more. The record represents their first new music in four years and marks three decades of making music together. It’s a really beautiful and immersive album; the emotionally-charged tracks are full of grief, but like much of their music, have a strong undercurrent of positivity and hope for the future.
