The Fox Theatre is proud to welcome acclaimed trumpeter Takuya Kuroda on Monday, June 30, 2025. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the show beginning at 8:00 PM. Tickets go on sale at 10 AM on Friday, March 21 and can be purchased online here.

Born in Kobe, Japan, Takuya Kuroda is highly regarded for his unique fusion of soulful jazz, funk, post-bop, fusion, and hip hop. After moving to New York to study jazz and contemporary music at The New School, Kuroda quickly established himself in the city’s vibrant jazz scene. He has collaborated with luminaries such as José James (on the Blackmagic and No Beginning No End projects), Akoya Afrobeat, and DJ Premier’s BADDER band.

Having released five acclaimed albums to date, including his Blue Note Records debut, Rising Son, and 2016’s Zigzagger on Concord, Kuroda continues to push creative boundaries. His sixth album, Fly Moon Die Soon, came out in late summer 2020 and further showcases his signature blend of organic musicianship with modern production. Reflecting on the recording process, Kuroda explains:

“This album is about the irony between the greatness of nature and the beautiful obsceneness of humanity. Melodies and grooves fly back and forth from being spiritual to being vulgar.”
