Genre-blending rock and funk group Twilight Muse is set to release its electrifying new live album, Collabs: Live at Garcia’s at The Cap, on Friday, April 25th, capturing a series of thrilling, high-profile guest sit-ins that redefined the band’s sound. Recorded at the intimate yet legendary Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY—a sacred venue for live and jam music—this collection brings together Twilight Muse’s signature dueling vocals and rich storytelling with powerhouse collaborations from icons like John Popper, The Soul Rebels, George Porter Jr., Robert Randolph & G. Love, and Sierra Green.
To celebrate the announcement, the band has released the lead single “Living for the City” today, a fiery reimagination of the Stevie Wonder classic featuring the mind-blowing synergy of Robert Randolph’s pedal steel mastery and G. Love’s raw blues harp energy. A live performance video capturing this unforgettable moment at Garcia’s is also out now.
“The Robert Randolph collab blew us away,” says Twilight Muse. “As we played the amazing Stevie Wonder anthem ‘Living for the City,’ the energy kept surging and we could feel the crowd feeding off it. Before we knew it, Robert invited G. Love up on stage and the two of them played dueling solos on pedal steel and blues harp— and the jam exploded into a full-on party.”
The live album Collabs: Live at Garcia’s at The Cap is a testament to Twilight Muse’s evolution, pushing beyond their studio work to embrace the spontaneous magic of live collaboration.
“Having these legendary artists sit in with us was an absolute honor and a total blast,” says the band. “These collabs came out of a series of late-night jams at Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre—some planned, some entirely spontaneous—all of which pushed our sound in exciting new directions. ‘The Mayor’ is a prime example—a fresh, funk- and soul-driven original that marks a shift from our debut album, made even more special by the renowned bassist George Porter Jr. of The Meters joining us. This collection reflects an evolution of Twilight Muse and has inspired us to create new music that gets people moving.”
Twilight Muse’s evocative and intriguingly layered name speaks to the group's artistic perspective. Founded by singer-songwriter Meg Pollaro and singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Andrew Shapiro, Twilight Muse writes, records, and performs alluring songs that range from indie rock to soul and funk - and plays reimagined covers of some of your favorite tunes. Since launching the project in 2023, the founders have enlisted a stellar band (Alan Cockern, Joe Colgan, Rich Monopoli, Todd Nocera, and Simon Wasserberger), which has joined the duo in writing new songs including ‘The Mayor.’
Twilight Muse’s debut album, A Moment Out of Time (2023), was produced by Dan Mackenzie (Joss Stone, Martin Sexton), Will Baker (Slide Studios, Brooklyn), and Jason Cummings (Cutting Room). The release earned praise for its lush, introspective storytelling and dynamic sound - with Relix praising its “blend of poetic lyricism, atmospheric soundscapes, and harmonious vocal interplay.” Following the album’s release, Twilight Muse hit the live-music circuit hard, building a reputation for spellbinding performances and electrifying collaborations.
Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre, where Collabs was recorded, has become a home base for Twilight Muse’s live explorations. Known for its intimate yet high-energy atmosphere, Garcia’s honors the legacy of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead while serving as a proving ground for some of the best musicians in the jam, rock, and soul scenes. The venue’s deep connection to improvisational music makes it the perfect backdrop for Twilight Muse’s adventurous spirit and all-star collaborations.
Twilight Muse will return to Garcia’s for another late-night set on May 8th, following Little Feat’s performance at The Capitol Theatre, bringing more surprises and high-energy jams to their growing fanbase.
Now, with Collabs: Live at Garcia’s at The Cap, the band fully embraces the raw energy of their live performances, capturing the magic of sharing the stage with some of the most respected musicians in the industry.
