Certainly, one of the hottest tickets over this past weekend in Fort Collins was to the performance of the legendary revolutionary Ani DiFranco. Performing at the newly renovated and intimate setting of Washington’s in the Old Town District, DiFranco’s return was highly anticipated by her loyal following, reflected by the fact that her show sold-out the first day tickets went on sale.
Not much has been heard from Grace Potter since her appearance last year at her signature music festival, Grand Point North, a small-scale two-day fest staged on the edge of Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont. Potter was going through a host of personal changes in 2017 and had put music aside for much of the year. But she was back on stage this weekend, headlining both nights of the fest with a new – and very able – backing band, and debuting a handful of songs slated for a forthcoming album that Potter hopes to release in 2019.
Grace Potter and Higher Ground Music announced today that Jackson Browne and Ani DiFranco have been added to the lineup for the 2018 Grand Point North music festival, set to take place September 15th and 16th at Burlington, Vermont’s Waterfront Park. Single day tickets are now on sale for $59. Two-day passes remain available for just $89.
Singer/songwriter/guitarist Ani DiFranco, an early proponent of the indie label movement, began her buoyant career 1989, created her Righteous Babe label in 1990, and without the benefit of the airwaves, built a huge, politically savvy fan base, while producing more than twenty albums, largely on her own.

It’s 10:27 pm at The 8th Annual Festy Experience and I am sitting under the stage, directly beneath Mike Cooley’s feet (of Drive-By Truckers), hacking away at my typewriter. The rain is falling, not strong but steady, and I need somewhere dry to write. The music is flowing through me, his boot bottoms stomping out a beat inches from my head.
