California Roots Music and Arts Festival

For over a decade now, California Roots Music and Arts Festival has been a leader in festival sustainability. As the festival returns to the Monterey County Fair and Event Center for their 11th edition, they are proud to be the first festival in the state to earn the Green Business certification.

For over a decade, California Roots Music & Arts Festival has been bringing the best reggae, roots music, rock, hip hop and psychedelic art center stage at the iconic Monterey County Fair and Event Center. This month they celebrate Women in Music for “Women’s History Month!” Highlighting their on-going support for Women in Music, this year’s festival features a stellar line-up of women fronted musical acts like HIRIE, Nattali Rize, Vana Liya, Sa-Roc, Eli-Mac, Lila IkĂ©, Sevana and Artikal Sound System’s Logan Rex.

California Roots Music and Arts Festival is excited to return, after a two year hiatus due to COVID-19, on May 26th! For the first time ever Cali Roots has expanded into a four day event of reggae, roots and hip hop music! The expanded event has been curated into an experience to include more music, local food and beverage vendors, added art exhibits, exhibitions and installations, interactive workshops, intimate pop-up performances, on-site greening initiatives, and community focused non-profits to learn about.

Cali Roots is excited to add The Green to the welcome back to Monterey concert line-up taking place August 28th. This is the first event from the organizers set to take place at the iconic venue Monterey County fair and Event center since California’s re-opening announcement. The concert is a celebration of both the festival and bringing live music back to the fairgrounds, the festival’s home since the inception of the event over 11 years ago.

Cali Roots is excited to kick off a series of shows leading up to the 2022 California Roots Music and Arts Festival. Included in the series is Cali Roots Sessions: San Francisco slated for October 23-24. Set to take place at The Midway, located in the Dogpatch district of San Francisco, this event includes performances from legendary reggae artists Stephen Marley, J Boog, The Green, FIJI, Anthony B, Yellowman, Don Carlos and more!

Cali Roots in partnership with Pollen are excited to announce Cali Roots: Baja Sessions! The newly formed getaway brings the best parts of Cali Roots to a destination beach resort to create the ultimate experience. Baja Sessions will take place November 3-7, 2021.  This is expected to sell out quickly, be sure to get yours here!

California Roots is excited to announce the newest edition to the Cali Roots family: Cali Roots: Baja Sessions! The newly formed getaway brings the best parts of Cali Roots to a destination beach resort to create the ultimate experience. Baja Sessions will take place November 3-7, 2021.

The California Roots Music & Arts Festival is excited to announce additions to the line-up. Joining the already exceptional line-up is Stephen Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Protoje Feat Lila IkĂ© and Sevana, Brother Ali, Sa-Roc, Slightly Stoopid, to name a few. The destination festival’s new additions will share the stage with Cali Roots main stays Rebelution, Atmosphere, Chronixx, and Damian Marley and sees debut performances from renown Sean Paul, Ice Cube and Sublime With Rome.

The California Roots Music & Arts Festival announced today that they are moving their 2021 event to May 2022, due to the ongoing public health and safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The premier reggae, roots, and hip hop festival is also exapanding to four days, officially kicking off on Thursday, May 26, 2022. The additional day features Dirty Heads headlining alongside Fortunate Youth, Alborosie, and more.
