Dead Ahead Festival returns to the breathtaking Riviera Cancun from January 9-13, 2025, offering five nights of music in paradise. The centerpiece of the event will be three incredible nights of collaboration as Dead Ahead Fest featuring a powerhouse lineup: Sturgill Simpson, Rick Mitarotonda, Jeff Chimenti, Oteil Burbridge, Don Was, and Jay Lane, along with special guests Brittney Spencer, Grace Bowers, and the incomparable Brandi Carlile.

Over time, he has been a bassist, record producer, music director, film composer, documentary film maker and radio host. And 2024 promises to be no less busy for him.

Today, six-time GRAMMY-winning musician, producer, composer, and Blue Note Records President Don Was announced his new group Don Was and The Pan-Detroit Ensemble. Made up of stellar jazz musicians from his hometown, the band features longtime collaborators including Blue Note Records artist Dave McMurray on sax and Eminem’s Oscar-winning collaborator keyboardist Luis Resto.
