Bob Weir
On Wednesday, November 13, Bob Weir and The Wolf Bros, complete with the horn section known as The Wolf Pack, brought their stripped-down renditions of the Grateful Dead catalog to the historic Cincinnati Music Hall. This show, however, was unlike any prior Wolf Bros concerts in previous tours. The band was joined by the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, led by conductor John Morris Russell, in an elegant evening of classical renditions of Weir’s familiar tunes.

I didn’t plan on going to the Sphere to see Dead and Company (a.k.a. “Dead & Co.”) during their months-long “Dead Forever” residency. But after missing U2 and Phish during the inaugural year of the high-tech Las Vegas arena, it was high time I went to check out the uber-visual experience. It doesn’t hurt that Dead & Co.
Don Was – the veteran, multi-Grammy-winning musician/producer and current president of Blue Note Records – is one of those virtual Renaissance men who always seems to have many pots a stirring. Over time, he has been a bassist, record producer, music director, film composer, documentary film maker and radio host. And 2024 promises to be no less busy for him.
Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real (POTR) commanded the stage on Thursday, February 29, the second of two jam- and fan-packed nights at San Francisco’s Fillmore Auditorium.
For over two hours, Nelson and Co. delivered a ton of butt-kicking rock and roll, oodles of Texas stomp and swagger, and a healthy dose of mellow sweetness to round out the flavor. A surprise appearance by Bob Weir was icing on the cake.
