The July 2019 debut of the 4848 Festival created something extraordinary: a refreshing alternative to the traditional campout festival.

It all started in the Haight Ashbury over 50 years ago: from the psychedelic ballroom bands of the late 1960's, the Grateful Dead emerged and went on to have a robust 30-year career with Jerry Garcia and another 24+ years post-Garcia. Rather than sticking with a scripted set list, the band flowed into the unfamiliar territory of improvisational concert celebrations that broke down the boundaries between musician and audience.

The weather was perfect for a weekend in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Whether it was your first trip or 100th. For me, it was my first trip, but no better excuse to go than a mid-August weekend to see some great music.

Grand Point North, the music festival presented by Grace Potter and Higher Ground at Burlington’s Waterfront Park on September 14th and 15th, released set times for the festival today. In addition, Potter and Higher Ground announced the return of the visual arts installation Grand Point Weird, Grand Point Local featuring local restaurants and food, and the REVERB Eco Village supporting several Vermont nonprofits.

Higher Ground Presents and Grace Potter’s Grand Point North music festival are partnering with City Market for a special raffle to help those in need through the work of the Vermont Foodbank. Starting on Thursday, August 1st at 3pm, a donation link will be live on the City Market website that will allow people to purchase a $5 donation entry "ticket". The Vermont Foodbank will receive 100% of every $5 donation.

Beach Road Weekend announced a partnership with the Seastreak Ferry for a special late-night service for festival goers. The late-night service provides another option for festival goers to enjoy an entire day of music. The Seastreak will pick up festival goers from Vineyard Haven after the final performances and bring them to New Bedford. Anyone who purchases a ticket for the ferry through Seastreak.com is guaranteed a spot on the boat.

Ever thought of visiting Martha’s Vineyard, or simply looking for an excuse to go back? Beach Road Weekend has got you covered. The three-day music festival starts on Friday, August 9th, with a screening of Jaws with a live orchestra. The rest of the weekend has some great music in store for the island, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty will be headlining Saturday night, along with Vermont’s jam legends Dispatch. Alejandro Escovedo, North Mississippi Allstars, and Mason Jennings will also be performing.

Grace Potter and Higher Ground Presents announced today that Gov’t Mule has been added to the lineup for the 2019 Grand Point North Music Festival, set to take place September 14th and 15th at Burlington, Vermont’s Waterfront Park.  In addition, Warren Haynes will join Potter to perform an acoustic set.  Single day tickets are now on sale for $64.  Two-day passes are available for just $84.

This year’s rendition of Bourbon and Beyond is set to outdo the festival of last year that unfortunately was rained out due to dangerous conditions of the grounds. The new location will be outside the Kentucky Expo center at Highland Festival Grounds, more inland than the previous location on the banks of the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky.

Joining Potter this year are Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Lucius, J.S. Ondara, Lucy Dacus, Michael Nau, and Bailen. Other artists are expected to be added to the lineup.
