Maura McCoy, eldest daughter of former hippie benefactor Don McCoy, has announced that she will produce a feature-length documentary about Olompali State Historic Park, site of the commune established by her father in 1967. “Olompali: A California Story” will be directed by Gregg Gibbs, whose documentary “The Treasures of Long Gone John” premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2005.The film will recount the colorful history of the former Rancho Olompali, located 3 miles north of Novato in Marin County.

Tonight is the official grand opening of Garcia's - The Capitol Theatre lobby bar named in Jerry's honor - in Port Chester, NY! Beginning tonight, Garcia's will be open 7 days a week offering live music and a selection of memorabilia from the Garcia Family including Jerry's banjo, his Terrapin Station gold record, live photos and select pieces of Jerry's artwork.

Formed from weekly shows at Phil Lesh's Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA, the Terrapin Family Band has become the venue's official house band. Terrapin Crossroads' constant free bar shows, often featuring bandleader Phil, have created an opportunity for the young musicians of Terrapin Crossroads' crew to perform together and with a diverse cast of visiting musicians.

Julien's Auctions, the world’s premier music and entertainment memorabilia auction house along with Hard Rock Cafe New York has announced a rare exhibit including remarkable music memorabilia to display for press TODAY, Monday, May 13, 2013 from 11 am – 5 pm and Tuesday, and May 14, 2013 from 11 am – 5 pm. The exhibit precedes the Julien’s Auctions Music Icons auction event to take place at Hard Rock Cafe New York on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

During the early 1990s while growing up in middle America I was making the transformation from teenager to adult.  My personal changes were not unlike what the country in general was going through.  The awkward years of George Bush gave way to the prosperous reign of President Clinton. During this time there was another interesting transition going on in popular music and culture.  The dominant days of hair metal bands were fading (like my stone-washed jeans), and the glam gave way to grunge which ushered in a new era of rock n' roll.

Phil Lesh & Friends will be playing July 22 & 23 at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY; July 24 at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA; and July 26 & 27 at Gathering Of The Vibes in Bridgeport, CT.
