On the heels of two sold-out shows at The Ogden Theatre in their hometown of Denver, today The Motet announce a headlining 2016 summer Red Rocks play - Friday, July 22nd, 2016 - with special guests Medeski Martin and Wood and Vulfpeck.

Today, progressive funk collective The Motet announced 2016 Winter Tour plans. The tour launches on January 28 in Solana Beach and zigzags up California and Nevada with stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Crystal Bay before ending in on San Francisco February 5 and 6. On February 18, the tour picks back up on the other side of the country in Greensboro, NC and in Asheville, NC for two nights with Umphrey’s McGee, and continues on through February 28 with stops in along the east coast and Midwest.

It’s a little bit strange that in 2015, almost twenty years since drummer Dave Watts began holding impromptu free form improvised funk jams under the moniker Motet, that now the band is finally getting the national recognition it’s due. Maybe it really isn’t so surprising. They spent their formative years developing original material and finding the right full-time players and much of the 2000s throwing impressive tribute shows to the finest icons of rock, funk, soul, jazz and disco.

Today, progressive funk collective The Motet announces they’ll ring in 2016 with a very special New Year’s Eve show in Atlanta at The Variety Playhouse on December 31.  Tickets, including a limited number of VIP tickets, go on sale to The Motet Fan Club on Friday, August 14 at 2pm EDT, and to the general public on Friday, August 21 at

Today, The Motet announces their Fall 2015 tour dates.  The progressive funk collective will unveil their brand new “Mixtape 1977” set over Halloween weekend in four Midwest cities. This marks the first Halloween on the road for The Motet. Meanwhile, fans along the Colorado Front Range can look forward to the launch of a new tradition, The Motet’s “Hometown Hustle,” at the Ogden Theatre on November 13 and 14.

It was a gorgeous day while tailgating in the south lot at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, but as most people know, Colorado weather is very unpredictable. The weather turned fast, but not before the two openers: DJ Jazzy Jeff and Exmag got their sets in. There was a lot of talent in the lineup and a huge buzz around town regarding this show.

PardeePalooza is an annual music and camping festival at State Bridge Amphitheater in Bond, CO (just outside of Vail, CO) to honor Tony Pardee Seibert who sadly passed in an avalanche last January, 2014 in the East Vail Chutes. We invite anyone any everyone to the beautiful venue of State Bridge Amphitheater to celebrate and honor Tony with friends, family and a fantastic weekend of music, camping, and more!

The clock is ticking as we approach the final days before our 10 Year Family Reunion at Hummingbird Ranch over the summer solstice!

Today we are thrilled to announce the addition of The Motet as our final headliner on the already stacked line-up. Coming off their SOLD OUT Red Rocks show this past weekend, you bet they will bring their A-game to SONIC BLOOM to add some down-and-dirty Colorado funk to our eclectic 2015 line-up!!

Last Friday at The Fillmore in San Francisco, I felt right at home. As a Colorado native who moved to the Bay Area just three months ago it’s been an incredible transition and vast discovery process with the amount of incredible local and national musical talent that plays here constantly. Last Friday was humbling on multiple levels. It was the debut Fillmore performance of my favorite improvisational funk band The Motet.

Conductor Matt Butler is a genius! However he got inspired to come up with this idea of improvisational conducting talented musicians was brilliant. The reason that I say this is because it is very pleasant and beneficial to all parties when musicians are happier than the crowd. Everyone wins! There are only a few inspirational times when that happens. I see it when I am at major festivals and musicians are collaborating, or I see it in super jams such as the Everyone Orchestra.
