The half way mark is a significant moment, especially during a five night run of contiguous shows by the same band. A sense of accomplishment can be felt by all after two outstanding nights of musical bliss. Goose reached that milestone prior to their show last Friday, March 10, 2023, and like Ground Hog Day, the show was again for a sold out crowd at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY.
A five night stand in the music world is a rarity. Five contiguous nights is almost unheard of in this day and age of short attention spans. This did not phase Goose, the self described indie jam rock band, from attempting this infrequent feat at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, which is within striking distance of their hometown, Norwalk, CT.
2022 might have been the year of the tiger, but easily could have been the year of Goose, as this band achieved numerous significant milestones. From selling out Radio City Music Hall and Red Rocks, to a co-headlining fall tour with the Trey Anastasio band, this Norwalk, CT based squad literally lived out their own dreams last year.
The rising indie jam squad from Connecticut, Goose, have yet again made a name for themselves as they embarked on their second ever New Years run in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 30, 2022 at the Andrew J Brady Center. This effort evolved into the Cincinnati Mayor declaring December 30th "Goose Day." While the band had never played within the Queen City limits before, they are no strangers to the area having performed twelve times in neighboring Covington, KY.
It was the right time to rock the night away, and Goose did just that for the second night of their ninth annual holiday themed Goosemas on December 17, 2022 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, CO. The band continued the theme of drawing wishes written on green and red balls by audience members to determine the second set, as well as dusted off a pair of holiday rarities and more unexpected holiday shenanigans.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, especially at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, CO, who hosted Goose's annual holiday themed Goosemas event. The first night was held on December 16, 2022, and included a huge display of red and green balls, along with copious sharpies. Fans used these items to write requests for the band, and the band in turn drew the balls from Santa's bag to determine the second set.
As with most things in life, the end is usually bittersweet and ripe with emotion. This was certainly the case for the eighth and final collaborative performance by the Trey Anastasio Band and Goose. For Goose, this tour was a "pinch me" moment, enabling them to play along side legendary musicians that they have looked up to.
Upstate New York was pummeled by a historic lake effect snowstorm that brought almost six feet of snow last weekend. This wasn’t the only storm in the region, as the raging infernos known as the Trey Anastasio Band and Goose brought some serious heat to Upstate Medical Arena at The Oncenter War Memorial in Syracuse, NY on November 18, 2022.
According to Merriam-Webster, to collaborate is defined as “to work jointly with or together, especially in an intellectual manner” and for music fans, we love this word. Whether it is put to good use within the members of our favorite bands or through the avenue of the surprise sit in, everyone in the audience loves a good gelling and these instances are usually what make up the fabled stories of our musical adventure. When one considers the collaborative effort through the lens of improvisational music, the end result has a giant question mark looming over it.
The dynamic duo of the Trey Anastasio Band, led by Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, and Goose flew like a red bird into Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, NY on November 13, 2022 for the fourth of eight shows on their collaborative Northeastern Fall run. Their sets grew wings and took flight with monster sit-ins by both bands.
