Greensky Bluegrass

Greensky Bluegrass returns to The Odgen Theater in Denver for an epic two nights this weekend to showcase their new album, If Sorrows Swim.  It’s been an incredible past year for Greensky, with a spotlight during the world famous Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and a shared headline with Railroad Earth and The Wood Brothers at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

With the band's second leg of their Fall Tour kicking off tomorrow in Des Moines, IA, Greensky Bluegrass announces their first series of dates for 2015.

There is a small unincorporated lil “town” called Hoxeyville in the northern Michigan mitten and once a year the population exponentially grows when they open the gates to one of my all time favorite fests.  The drive north winds through quick moving clouds and green rolling fields that inspire but not quite as much as the dashing downbeat and the humbling hugs that abound at Hoxeyville.

Michigan’s Greensky Bluegrass announced today they’ll ring in 2015 with a New Year’s Eve show at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Tickets for their year-ending performance go on sale Wednesday, August 27 at noon with Early Bird tickets available for $25 here: http://smarturl.it/GreenskyROMT

“Buy a flower crown, they’re tacky!”

As soon as I heard the guy selling flower crowns charmingly belittling his own product, I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. Despite the cool fog that hung over the weekend, taking in the towering eucalyptus trees that encase Golden Gate Park, I felt warm. Back at Outside Lands for my third year, it almost instantly felt like I was home again.

No single thing makes a festival the “best festival ever.” Sure, one great band can make it really good. Or maybe the campground scene was where it was at. But it’s really when you group those moments with the ones of unbearable laughter, silly dancing, and inspirational people that a festival becomes the “best ever.” And you know what? The Northwest String Summit consistently brings the best.

The sensational and sustainable 11th annual Hoxeyville Music Festival will take place this weekend, August 15th-17th, 2014.  This year’s Hoxeyville is a return to the humble reminder of the home team for free flowing verse and truth among the northern Michigan forest trees and Pine River.  After 10 years on, the festival organizers took off a year to reflect and re-gather the fest’s mission and values.  They have returned for 2014 with a refined mind and a refreshed line-up.  Gra

Another year and another successful Bonnaroo adventure can be checked off the list.  It seems like it was just yesterday that I was rocking out to Sir Paul with my parental units at Bonnaroo 2013.  Where does the time go?  With each year I attend this festival, one thing does remain constant, change.  I was in attendance the first few years when Bonnaroo was in its infancy, going just as a fan to see 'The Dead

Silver Wrapper and Purple Hat Productions have announced the first round of artists for the second annual Suwannee Hulaween, hosted by The String Cheese Incident over Halloween weekend October 31 - November 2, 2014 at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL.

On the heels of the success of the Aiken Bluegrass Festival’s 2013 spring event the festival will return to Aiken this spring on May 9th and 10th, 2014. With an eclectic mix of traditional and progressive bluegrass, the 10th annual Aiken Bluegrass Festival promises to be the most exciting year to date. “What defines us as an event is our knack for booking bands that enjoy sharing the stage; friends who happily sit in on each other’s sets” says event director, Christian Schaumann.
