Jorma Kaukonen

Thanks to the coronavirus, concerts are on hold until further notice. We get it; but we don’t like it.

Artists and fans have been making the best of it, with bands using internet outposts to broadcast archival performances or set up live streams without audiences in attendance and with allowances for social distancing among the musicians.

The music is flowing, but the experience is suffering.

Music so tasty that the New York Times Magazine columnist Sam Sifton recommends it in What to Cook This Week! "Did you know Jorma Kaukonen’s doing quarantine concerts at Fur Peace Ranch? They’re on YouTube and good noodly fun. Take one in," says Sam and he's right! Jorma's shows are high quality! The broadcasts are tastefully done and clearly heard.

Hot on the heels of the first single release, “Old Time Used To Be,” from Joe Louis Walker’s forthcoming new album, Blues Comin’ On, comes the second single release, the superb title track.

It is a fascinating look at this artist's history and influences.  The sound quality is clear and the filming visually revealing... you can even steal a lick or two!

In a career that has already spanned a half-century, guitarist and vocalist, Jorma Kaukonen has been one of the most highly respected interpreters of American roots music, blues, and Americana, and at the forefront of popular rock-and-roll. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy recipient, he is a founding member of two legendary bands, Jefferson Airplane and the still-touring Hot Tuna.

Hot Tuna continued their 50th-anniversary tour, which they began last year with a stop at the historic Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara. The midweek show on February 19th featured an opening set by the iconic David Bromberg and his quartet. Both bands have made numerous appearances at the Lobero over the years, including past shows together, so it was no surprise that the event was a sellout.
