The Greyboy Allstars returned to the Brooklyn Bowl last Friday night, wrapping up a stellar two night run at the storied venue in Brooklyn, NY's Williamsburg neighborhood. They are in the middle of the 2022 Get a Job Tour to promote their brand new album, Get a Job: Music from the Original Broadcast Series Soul Dream. This San Diego, Ca based squad dynamically elevated the Get a Job tunes as well as originals with a classy performance.
After delivering an awe-inspiring performance at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY last weekend, and fresh off the heels of yesterday’s melodic release “Evolve,” only their second studio single in nearly ten years, all while celebrating the birthday of beloved bassist and leader Marc Brownstein, the Disco Biscuits descended into Denver with a charismatic and all-encompassing night one at the Mile High’s state-of-the-art Miss
As music fans are still coping with a drawn out ending to the pandemic, and when everyone’s seasonal depression has convinced them there is no hope left in the world, a ray of bright warm light is emerging on the horizon in the form of Andy Frasco & The U.N.’s latest LP, Wash, Rinse, Repeat. She finishes playing an original song, “Over The Line,” and Molly Tuttle suddenly beams a big smile towards a big crowd. It’s clear that she’s taking it all in as the audience rises up out of their chairs to give a standing ovation. It's a wonderful little moment, and at a point in which the show is only half over. Tuttle, one of modern bluegrass' most recent promising hotshots, has been selling out shows one after the other on her current tour with her ensemble Golden Highway.
After a nearly two-year pandemic hiatus, live entertainment has returned to the Chumash Casino Resort in beautiful Santa Ynez, California. The Disco Biscuits descended into the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY for night two of their rescheduled three night run from March 2020 last Friday, and unfurled a set list of fan favorites, covers and rarities to celebrate guitarist Jon "The Barber" Gutwillig's birthday. Before the staff announced the start of the Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert at the historic Lobero Theatre on March 12th, it was revealed that the venue had officially been recognized as the fourth oldest continuously operating performance hall in the United States. Guitar-driven rock was alive and well at the historic El Rey Theatre in West Los Angeles on an otherwise sleepy Tuesday night, March 15th. The English glam rock band The Darkness brought their long-delayed tour to the West Coast, much to the delight of a packed theater full of fully vaccinated super fans.
Ween played the Chicago Rivera Theatre 3/19 & 3/20 2022. Watching the previous shows' setlists come out, I had an idea of what songs we would hear on this Spring Tour. I scrambled to jot down a few tunes I thought for sure would show up in Chicago. My predictions included “Dancing in the Show,” “You Fucked Up” or “Blarney Stone,” “She’s Your Baby” or maybe “Tender Situation,” “Tear for Eddie” - one of those sappy songs, “Don’t Get 2 Close 2 my Fantasy” and sure, “Touch my Tooter” again.

Sometimes, the most unexpected music moments are the ones you'll remember best. This will definitely be the case of my last Friday. Starting off the day, I had no idea I would be at the Fox Theatre in Boulder that night...witnessing the mesmerizing force of nature that is Sierra Ferrell and her band. Full disclosure, I didn't know who Sierra Ferrell was. However, as moments like these tend to happen, that day would have been my deceased father's 76th birthday.
