The harmonious collective consciousness of music, lights, love, and sharing that is ALO’s Tour D’Amour is in underway as the band, with singer/songwriter Anna Moss along for most of it, is bounding from California town to town before winding up in early March in Oregon and Washington.

Some artists out there could play in all the different spaces—stadiums, old theatres, jazz clubs, dive bars—and sound good in them all. Neal Francis, pop soul singer and keyboardist extraordinaire, and his three-member band are such an entity.  Their delivery of deep pocket, cohesive grooving over some pretty brilliant song material ensures they would sound awesome anywhere.

Papadosio, the Jamtronica squad originally from Athens, Ohio, delivered a scorcher last Saturday for a full house at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY. Their music incorporated a high energy blend of psychedelic rock, jazz, funk and electronica. Five LED display panels sat behind the band members and were synchronized with the lights to elevate the visual elements of the show.

On February 25th, jamgrass pillars Yonder Mountain String Band will release their 9th studio album, titled Get Yourself Outside. This latest creation is eleven tracks of talent that reveal that after nearly a quarter century, this group still has what it takes to deliver on songwriting, composition, and studio proficiency.

This past weekend, Grammy award winning guitarist Eric Krasno set out on a coast-to-coast, two-week tour to promote his latest creation Always. Released on February 4th, this second solo endeavor is packed full of the quality compositions and visceral voyages that Krasno is recognized for in the studio as well as the live setting.

What can be said about Karl Denson other than he is one of the hardest working men in show business. Denson is an extraordinary saxophonist, flutist, and vocalist, and his list of accolades is as long as your arm and involves many heavy hitters in the music industry. He’s an alumni of the Lenny Kravitz band and he co-founded and led The Greyboy Allstars. When not touring and playing saxophone with the Rolling Stones you can find him playing with his band Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe.

The Floozies brought the funk back to the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY last Friday night. The house was packed with fans thirsty for their eclectic blend of electronica, hip hop, dub step, disco and of course, funk. Phyphr and Daily Bread were on hand to support and round out the high energy dance party.

Hot Tuna played an intimate acoustic set at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale on Monday evening, delighting the faithful crowd with their intricate brand of blues, jazz, folk and rock. Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame (class of ’96) members, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady treated the audience to two sets of classic Hot Tuna, showcasing Kaukonen’s Piedmont blues fingerstyle guitar with Casady’s lead guitar style bass runs that have entertained fans for over half a century.

Melvin Seals and JGB brought their classic Jerry Garcia Band tunes to the sold out Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA last Saturday night. Both Seals and the original Sweetwater venue have long time ties to Jerry Garcia, making this performance extra sweet for the band and fans alike.

Beth Hart has an honest and raw approach to her music. Her highs and lows have no constraints as she has no problem sharing them with the world through her songwriting. Honest, factual accounts from her upbringing to her current place are on full display on anything she has ever put pen to paper. Without hesitation Hart bears her soul with explosive power, emotional backbone, and raw vulnerability.
