MerleFest, offering the feel of both music festival and family reunion, drew nearly 76,000 fans to North Wilkesboro, North Carolina during April 25-28, 2013. Beginning in 1988 as a tribute to the life of Merle Watson, this year’s event also served as a celebration of the lives of Merle’s parents, “Doc” and Rosa Lee, who passed away in 2012.
The Church Of Sunday Morning Festivities at MerleFest welcomes new and returning members. While the Church only meets once a year, this single sermon will keep your mind and heart full of love for your neighbors. Inspiring a love strong enough to get you through until next year’s MerleFest, if not a lifetime.

All good things must come to an end. Right? So they say. And Sunday, July 22nd was the last of the four-day 17th Annual Gathering of the Vibes Festival held in Bridgeport’s lovely Seaside Park off of the Long Island Sound. The festival this year was peaceful, safe, and rowdy at the right times. All of the vendors, food and merchandise were a pleasure to meet and deal with.

My day began a bit late on Friday. I would like to say it’s because I found a basket of kittens and was completely distracted...or that I was showering or something like that. But no...I got a late start because the moment I got to Wakarusa on Thursday...I lost my keys. I had to ride back to Fayetteville, whip up yesterday’s review and head back to Mulberry Mountain. But it’s never a bad thing to have to make that beautiful drive one more time.
Six weeks ago I read about the Life Is Good Festival, that took place this past weekend in Canton, MA, and the two of me that are this Gemini started to have it out as they always do. Corporate sponsorship for a festival? Yes, but the corporation started out as a grass roots effort that is trying to give back now that they’ve made it. No late nights? That’s not whom this festival is geared to please; its family oriented, with an emphasis on kids that no festival I have ever considered going to has had.
