Beyond the first-class music lineup, America’s Native Spirit will once again shine as a headliner all its own. New this year, the Forecastle Bourbon Experience is expanding to the masses, allowing all Forecastle patrons the opportunity to interact with the full array of offerings with no additional membership fee or minimum commitment. The Bourbon Experience will be held in a shaded area with relaxing lounge areas and seating, intimate workshops, interactive experiences and direct access to bourbon distillers and ambassadors. Singer/Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zach Gill has announced a four show run slated for California this August.   Billed as an “Evening With” these shows will take a dip into his solo catalog, highlighting compositions from his recent solo album Life In The Multiverse, and 2008’s Stuff as well as songs from his role as one of the founding members of ALO.

Following a national publicity campaign for his 2017 album, No Rain No Rose, Portland Americana and folk songwriter John Craigie will be opening for iconic folk-rocker Jack Johnson on Johnson’s upcoming Summer 2017 Tour. The two met in Hawaii when Johnson came to Craigie’s show and fell in love with his mix of wry folk songwriting and stand-up comedy. I have to admit, I like to take an angle when I write. Often times, I will have a phrase or concept thought out, which may be developed into an introduction, even before I go to see a band. How can that be, you may be asking. Well, most of the bands I review I have seen before and I can figure out what to expect. But, last Sunday night's show left me dumbfounded.
