Rockers, Celebrities, and Supporters Attend SRO Event Hosted by Broadcast Personality Eddie Trunk to Raise Awareness and Funds for Cancer Charity
Rockers, bowling enthusiasts, DIO fans, and supporters gathered at PINZ Bowling Center in Studio City, California, on November 14 for the annual BOWL FOR RONNIE Celebrity Bowling Party, benefiting the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund (www.diocancerfund.org). The event, officially sold out in advance, raised over $70,000 for this music-based cancer charity.
Broadcast personality Eddie Trunk, host on SiriusXM’s 103 Faction Talk channel, emceed the event, which featured a star-studded lineup of attendees. Celebrity participants included rock legends such as Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath), Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave), Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), Rudy Sarzo (Dio, Quiet Riot), and many more. Additional notable guests included comedians, actors, and influencers, including Corey Feldman and Anwar Hadid. The event’s highlight came when the Board of Directors presented Dr. David Wong and his research team at the UCLA School of Dentistry with a $25,000 check to support their development of a groundbreaking saliva swab test for early cancer detection.
The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund has supported Dr. Wong’s research since 2016. This innovative work aligns with the Fund’s mission to focus on cancer prevention, research, and education.

To date, the Fund has raised over $2 million to support cancer prevention, research, and education initiatives. Beneficiaries include the T.J. Martell Foundation, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and UCLA’s gastric cancer research.
