Former Telluride Band Contest winners, Wood Belly, are pleased to release the video for "Angel" off their new album Great Big Skies. The album and video are out now on Americana Vibes. The video may be viewed on the band's YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_zYUdf9pIY
"Angel is a song about hiking the Appalachian trail. It's a grueling journey and everyone needs some help along the way. Luckily there are a number of "trail angels" who love to help hikers out of the goodness of their hearts. It might be a hot meal, a clean bed, a cold beer, or anything else you might need to get you through. It's written about a specific place but it's easy to see how it applies to all of us. If we could all extend a helping hand when we can and ask for help when we need it, our own journey's would be a little lighter."
The band has been garnering attention since the release of their 2018 debut album Solid Ground, which was followed by a win at the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition (earning them a main stage performance slot at the 2019 festival), as well as a 2018 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year nomination.
Wood Belly released its second album, Man on the Radio in January of 2020 capping an impressive stretch of writing and releases. The new 13-track collection was recorded at Swingfingers Studio in Fort Collins, CO with Grammy-winning producer Sally Van Meter and engineer Aaron Youngberg, and features special guest fiddler Jeremy Garrett of The Infamous Stringdusters on several tracks.
Wood Belly is currently on tour in support of Great Big Skies.
"We are so stoked to get back to the west coast. California, Oregon, Washington and Montana have been host to some incredible shows and we've made wonderful friends out there. Now we get to bring our new songs and sound out there and we can't wait for our fans to hear it. It's also an incredible honor to be playing at the final Northwest String Summit. It's been one of the premier festivals in the country for 20 years and it's going to be an all-timer!"
