We all know that when it comes to booking festivals, sexism is unfortunately alive and well. According to a 2018 Pitchfork investigation featuring a sampling of 20 American music festivals, it was revealed that, on average, only 19% of festival performers were female or non-binary. An additional 11% were bands with at least one female or non-binary member. That means that an average of 70% of solo performers or bands at American music festivals last year were all-male.

The 22nd Annual Rhythm & Roots Festival will feature alt-country band, Son Volt on Friday, Aug. 30, fan favorite, The Mavericks on Saturday, Aug. 31 and acoustic rockers Railroad Earth on Sunday, Sept. 1.

In just a couple of months, on July 18-21, North Plains, Oregon will see the return of one of the country’s premier bluegrass and roots music festivals, Northwest String Summit. The 29th Annual Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance will take place Thursday, July 18th - Sunday, July 21st at the Trumansburg Fairgrounds in Trumansburg, NY. Featuring over 75 carefully curated bands on 4 Stages over the course of 4 Days - our festival is designed to dazzle you with diversity rather than wow you with big names. Sure, we have our fair share of “headlining” acts, but it’s the bands you have never heard that may impress you the most.
