November 2019

Acclaimed guitar virtuosos Rodrigo y Gabriela have unveiled a spectacular new version of the Metallica classic, “Battery,” which will be featured on the duo’s upcoming METTAL EP, due from ATO Records on Black Friday, November 29, as a one-sided 12” vinyl Record Store Day First release, limited to 2,500 and available only at independent record stores.

Let’s rewind to November 25, 1976, on Thanksgiving Eve. The iconic group, The Band, were joined by Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Dr. John, to name a few. This was going to be the official “Farewell Show” in San Francisco (Winterland Ballroom) for the Canadian/American quintet: Helm/Danko/Robertson/Hudson/Manuel.

In support of a forthcoming solo album, Nathaniel Rateliff returns to his early acoustic days with the And It’s Still Alright tour. The show will feature many facets of Rateliff’s musicianship—ranging from stripped back moments with just his voice and an acoustic guitar to the accompaniment of a full band. The set list will feature songs from his entire catalog as well as the new album, which will be released via Stax Records early next year.

Omnivore Recordings today announced its titles for Record Store Day/Black Friday, observed by brick and mortal music retail establishments (and their rabid fans) during Thanksgiving weekend, Friday, November 23.

Acclaimed American rock band Blackberry Smoke’s new project Homecoming: Live In Atlanta—a live album and concert film—is out today. Recorded at their annual “Brothers and Sisters Holiday Homecoming” show at Atlanta’s Tabernacle last November, both the album and film—directed by Ted Roach and Lagan Sebert—are available to stream/purchase HERE.
