Critically acclaimed North Carolina rock powerhouse Big Something are thrilled to unveil their highly anticipated seventh studio album, Headspace, out today via Truth Serum Records. The 12-track tour-de-force was crafted at Minnesota’s hallowed home of auditory innovation, Pachyderm Recording Studios—the birthplace of Nirvana’s In Utero. Accompanied by GRAMMY® Award-nominated longtime producer John Custer, the band immersed themselves in a retreat style recording process living together at Pachyderm tucked away in the natural beauty of rural Minnesota’s serene landscape.

Headspace triumphantly presents the unparalleled breadth of Big Something's creative prowess. Commanding instrumentation meets cunning songcraft on tracks “The Mountain” and “Chemistry”, while songwriting collaborations with SUSTO and Andy Frasco on “Clouds” and Josh Phillips on “Bob and Weave” are a testament to the band’s penchant for collaboration.

The album has already garnered praise from industry giants such as Relix, who hailed Headspace as a “perfect example of their sonic evolution,” and Live for Live Music, who lauded its “thought provoking lyrical content and themes.” Publications including Jambase, Mp3Mag, and ExtraChill have also applauded Big Something’s dedication to mental health advocacy, a theme that provided much of the inspiration for the album. With each single release from Headspace, the band has highlighted various nonprofits including Sound Mind Live, Last Prisoner Project, and SAMHSA’s National Helpline.

"We're so thrilled to be partnering with Big Something, and that the band is using their voice to open up conversation on mental health and increase access to resources,” said Sound Mind Live Executive Director Chris Bullard. “Music has the power to inspire, connect, and drive social change - and working with artists like Big Something to support their community and fans has a transformative impact on individual lives as well as longer-term shifts in cultural norms around compassion and empathy with regards to mental health."

Headspace also holds a special significance for the band members as it pays tribute to guitarist/vocalist Nick MacDaniels’ lifelong best friend and frequent collaborator, Paul Interdonato. The majority of Big Something's lyrics were written by Interdonato before his untimely passing in 2017.

“There are so many special things about this album for us,” MacDaniels explains. “It’s both a requiem and a rebirth for us as a band. Honoring old friends, welcoming new ones and growing even closer together as musicians and brothers in the process.”

To celebrate the release, Big Something will ignite stages nationwide on their massive “Headspace Tour,” offering fans a chance to experience the band’s genre-defying sound and masterful songwriting live. The band will traverse the nation, visiting over 40 cities between November 2023 and May 2024. Significant dates include a momentous New Year's run from December 29-31, 2023, at Raleigh's Lincoln Theatre, Atlanta (February 2, 2024) and stops in Colorado (March 6-9, 2024), California from (March 19-23, 2024) and the Midwest (April 2024).
